Moving Broker with Poor Service
Your deposit is basically a broker's fee so once they have your money they will not answer calls or emails. Very questionable business practices. Also, insist on an in person inventory and not the virtual review. They will quote the square footage very low. Whatever they quote as the square footage, you need to double it and then ask for the price. That will give you an idea of how much they will try to increase the price once they have your belongings on their truck. Also the local company they sent had movers who were playing loud, vulgar rap music from their car in my driveway. My wife had to leave the house because she was uncomfortable with the workers. I spoke with the foreman who had the employee turn off the music. When I called Eagle and told them that we did not feel safe with the local movers, the customer service supervisor said there was nothing she could do and basically we had to deal with it. When I asked to speak with her supervisor, she said there was no one else and she was the highest level employee.
Moving Broker with Poor Service
This moving company is a broker and does not actually perform any moves. I received no assistance from customer service who were actually rude and told me that they would not call their subcontractor. Made the mistake of paying the deposit. Be sure not pay the deposit until they send you the bill of lading and you have coordinated with the subcontractor. Your deposit is basically a broker's fee so once they have your money they will not answer calls or emails. Very questionable business practices. They estimated my 4 bedroom, 3 car garage with a basement would fit on one truck. The day of the move they told me I was out of space and need to purchase another truck which doubled the cost. Both Eagle Moving and the local mover performed an inventory and determined the total square footage so how can they both be off by an entire truck load. Either they are the worst moving company or they intentionally quoted a low square footage and price because they knew they would increase the price later. I refused the extra charges and the local movers got upset. Also the local company they sent had movers who were playing loud, vulgar rap music from their car in my driveway. Trustworthy Contract Terms and Meticulous Movers
They Really gained my trust with their trustworthy contract terms and meticulous movers. The sales and marketing team provided a comprehensive overview of the contract, ensuring clarity and fair terms. The movers were punctual and demonstrated expertise in handling my belongings with care. The quote accuracy was impressive, aligning closely with the final cost. Eagle Moving Group's commitment to clear contracts and skilled movers makes them a reliable choice for a worry-free move.
Professional services
Highly recommended Eagle moving group is the best of all moving group. Eagle Moving Group was highly professional and arrived completely prepared. We were short on moving boxes, but they offered them for free. We also had very big furniture that had to go into very tiny hallways, but the movers took additional care of our belongings to ensure they arrived undamaged. They provided a highly competent and cost-effective service, and they completed all tasks on schedule. Especially because we were being charged by the hour. I would absolutely suggest them to anyone searching for a residential moving company
Terrible company
From the first contact, this brokerage company misrepresented our move. We were told we could have a direct delivery, our goods would never go into storage and they gave us a quote for the approximate size and items in our home. We paid for 1/3 up front and 1/3 on pick up and the final 1/3 at delivery. After multiple phone calls discussing delivery, we were never told that our move was NOT a direct delivery. They did not tell us it wasn't direct until after everything was packed and loaded into the truck. It was extremely difficult to get someone to answer the phone. My concerns were never truly resolved. Payment at delivery was also extremely complicated. The packing company, Easy Road Moving, that was brokered to pack our items was careless and broke/damaged many items during the move.
Stay Away from Eagle Moving Group!
So, so sorry we didn’t see these reviews before signing a contract. Eagle Moving Group are NOT movers: they are a CONTRACTOR. They arranged for furniture movers (Moving Wise) and a car mover, which in turn subcontracted to a different company for car transporting. (Eagle Moving Group is NOT affiliated with Eagle Van Lines in any way.) Moving Wise did NOT honor Eagle's quoted price, even though Eagle's salesman, Steven Graf, came to our home and personally took inventory. The Moving Wise crew chief added $1,400 BOTH for pickup & delivery; total = $2,800 OVER what was quoted by Eagle. Suddenly our calls to Steven Graf were all being redirected to customer service, which just spewed out canned excuses for being overcharged. The car mover was no better. The driver started by asking for an additional $300 because we has put belongings in the car. We got him down to $200, but still we got ripped off. Fleecing the elderly is a cottage industry in South Florida. We are SO happy to be leaving this state permanently. Oh, and did I mention the window repair guy who wanted $350 to replace ONE piece of glass? I was so irate that I got glass from Boynton Beach's Ace Hardware & fixed it myself. Cost: under $50. Will ALWAYS check reviews from now on. Shame on me.
Do not give your money to Eagle Moving Group
My experience is similar to many others here. Eagle engaged in deceptive business practices and may charge you significantly more than the quoted price. I am now being charged $4,700 for a move that was quoted at $2,650. As a moving broker, Eagle provides you a “binding” estimate and then sells/transfers the contract to another company that will actually do the move. I paid a $1,000 deposit for a move that was quoted at $2650. On the date of the move, the mover arrived and stated that the items on the inventory list in the “binding” estimate would actually require more space in the truck and packing materials than estimated and that I would have to pay $4,000. Eagle told me I had to pay the $4,000 or forfeit my deposit. Eagle also agreed to provide up to 30 days of free storage. The mover refused to honor that and Eagle refused to help. I complained to Eagle multiple times but they refused to return calls or emails. Eagle provided me a junk, low-ball estimate and unlawfully refused to honor it. They contract with sketchy movers and have no accountability. I recommend you find another company that is not a broker and will come to your home and provide you a true estimate before you put any money down.
Reporting Interstate Moving Fraud
We are not seeking any personal compensation. We only want Eagle Moving Group Inc. to be held accountable for their actions and to not be allowed to hurt anyone else. If you’ve been a victim of their fraudulent and deceptive business practices, here is some information that you may find helpful. First, do not blame yourself for falling victim to their malicious actions. This is NOT your fault. Eagle Moving Group Inc. is preying on vulnerable people who are in a stressful transition, with limited time, and often tight budgets. They have a scripted routine for baiting customers, as well as for their handling of the many customer concerns and complaints. In fact, this is a larger issue that extends beyond the fraudulent and deceptive business practices of Eagle Moving Group Inc. Interstate moving fraud has become so prevalent and harmful that the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has launched Operation Protect Your Move (https://www.transportation.gov/briefing-room/fmcsa-launches-operation-protect-your-move-nationwide-crackdown-moving-scams) to develop new laws and regulations to protect consumers. Please know that you are not alone. Second, there are resources available to help you in your time of need. Many of your rights are outlined on the Protect Your Move (https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move) and Household Goods Moving Fraud (https://www.oig.dot.gov/investigations/household-goods-moving-fraud) websites. Updating the federal legislation to protect consumers can be a lengthy and difficult process, but we can help by sharing our experiences and notifying officials about companies like Eagle Moving Group Inc. that are committing these deceptions. Here are some options that you may want to consider: (1.) File a complaint with the Department of Transportation’s Office of Inspector General (https://www.oig.dot.gov/fraud-hotline). (2.) File a complaint with your state’s Office of the Attorney General (https://www.usa.gov/state-attorney-general). (3.) File a complaint with the Better Business Association (https://www.bbb.org/us/fl/boynton-beach/profile/moving-brokers/eagle-moving-group-inc-0633-90600409/complaints). (4.) Contact an attorney who specializes in consumer law or class action lawsuits for legal advice.
Caution – Fraudulent & Deceptive Business Practices!
Eagle Moving Group Inc. misrepresented themselves and their “services” during our interstate move (violating the “Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act [815 ILCS 505/]” and the “Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act [Section 2]”). (1.) They conducted a bait-and-switch operation by intentionally providing us with a low-ball estimate and falsely claiming that it would be accurate within a margin of 5%—unless we added or removed any items. We paid a large deposit based on their false information and “errors”, which were only revealed to us in a so-called “Quality Assurance Check” after the non-refundable deposit was paid and the 72-hour cancellation period had passed. Despite REMOVING all of their personal packing services and materials, REMOVING over half of the total box count, and REMOVING several large furniture items from the initial quote… Eagle Moving Group Inc. somehow INCREASED our charges by over 55%. Then, with less than 24 hours’ notice before delivery, we were notified that the final increased payment had to be made in advance by cash or money order (forms of payment that can’t be cancelled or disputed) otherwise they would withhold and not deliver our belongings. (2.) They claimed to be a full-service moving company, assuring us that the same crew who disassembled and picked up our belongings would drive, unload, and reassemble them upon delivery. However, without our prior knowledge or consent, Eagle Moving Group Inc.: • Hired a separate carrier (Relo Van Lines) to pick up our belongings in New Orleans and transport them to a warehouse in Birmingham, Alabama. • Left our belongings in an undisclosed warehouse for an unspecified amount of time, delaying our promised delivery date with no indication of when it would be completed. • Employed a different carrier (Moving Forward Group) to transport our belongings from the warehouse to our new home in Chicago. • The final driver then contacted local individuals—not fully employed by the company—to unload our belongings. (3.) Finally, our furniture and belongings were severely damaged during the move (all documented with pictures and videos), and everything smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Our furniture was left in pieces and in some cases completely upside down, with nothing reassembled as promised. Our boxes were already opened and dumped out BEFORE being delivered with individual items carried separately and in different containers. Additionally, our new home’s walls, doors, door frames, and hallways were severely scraped, dented, and chipped. We spent hours making numerous calls, sending emails, and writing letters to try and fairly resolve our situation, but they only offered us a refund of a few hundred dollars (with an NDA attached) when the fraudulent charges and damage to our property cost several thousand dollars. We were able to dispute only a small portion of partial payment which was made by credit card. We tried to initiate their neutral arbitration process (as promoted on their own website and required for interstate movers according to federal law [Section 49 U.S.C. Section 375.211]), but after many attempts and pushback we were eventually informed that Eagle Moving Group Inc. DOES NOT have an arbitration program of any kind. Regrettably, our experience is not unique and other victims have shared similar stories about the deceptive practices committed by Eagle Moving Group Inc. (Notably, the only positive reviews seem to originate from new accounts, devoid of all service details, and are suspiciously similar in wording and punctuation...) This highlights a pattern of dishonest conduct by the company, and we want to strongly caution all potential customers before hiring their “services”.
