Nightmare moving experience

Jackson movers "moved" me from Texas to Florida. Safe ship moving was the broker and due to the "salesman" Steve Schultz that was a nightmare as well. Jackson movers showed up at my apt. Took apart my entertainment center, bed, dresser and desk to move my items. Now missing is the shelves of my entertainment center, the brackets to put my bed back together, the screws to put the mirror back on my dresser and they didn't know how to put my desk back together so that now wobbles. Dyson vacuum is gone as well as a few other items. Wardrobe boxes destroyed and delivered upside down. broken dishes, mugs, glasses, mirror. Do not use this company or safe ship moving. $6600 for this move and my loss is well over 10k Oh and the best part, when they showed up they tried to get more money out of me. $150 because they were going to use an elevator and $300 to come down the hallway. Which this was all discussed beforehand in my original quote.

VERY DISHONEST COMPANIES

Dear Jackson Movers,  I don't know who was the worst culprit, your company or the Acme Moving Company. Acme (the broker) took my money,$2500.00, and gave me bad information regarding the amount that I had to move, and then placed me with you. When you arrived, I was told that the information that Acme provided was off the mark and I had a full truck. Acme estimated 600 sqft. and your man estimated it to be 900 sqft. Acme told me it would charge me $1200.00 for the pickup and $1200.00 for the delivery. In good faith, I purchased Postal money orders for those amounts, since I was told by Acme that a personal check or credit card could not be used. Of course, they told me that CASH would be accepted. Anyway, I was required to give your man, in addition to the $1200.00 Postal Money order another $1000.00 since it was going to be a full truck. Finally, the man in charge of the move spoke to someone on the phone and got permission for me to write a check for the additional amount. I was further told, that when the furniture was to be delivered I could write a check for the difference between the amount on the Postal Money order and the final bill. Once the truck was loaded and ready to leave I observed that the truck was only half full. Another lie from the moving industry.  The truck was driven back to New Jersey where it was unloaded and the furniture was put into a warehouse. With all of the loading and unloading, many of my furniture items were scratched and chipped.  Instead of transporting the furniture down to North Carolina the next day, as I had been originally informed, it was over a week before it finally was delivered to my house.  Consequently, I had to spend over a week in a hotel at $175.00 a night. Just before the furniture was going to be delivered, the man in charge called me and said that he could only accept cash for the difference between the Postal Money order and the final amount owed. Since I bank with Navy Federal Credit Union, and there wasn't one within reasonable driving distance, I had to ask my daughter to lend me the cash. Needless to say, that was an embarrassing situation. Between Acme and Jackson Movers this was one of the worst experiences in my life. I would recommend either company to move any of my relatives or friends. As for this email, I think you have a hell of a nerve expecting me to give you a good review.  I should probably post this experience for everyone who is about to move to be warned. However, the lack of honesty between the two previously mentioned moving companies is so incredulous that it defies belief. Don't try to reach me, I don't want to hear the names of your companies again!!!

This move what the stuff of nightmares. Wish 0 stars was an option.

Literally, everything you hear about going wrong (and more) in a long-distance move occurred during our experience with this company: from unexpected costly surprises, fictional delivery dates, and damaged furniture, to furniture being held hostage by the drivers… it was truly remarkable. Let me start by saying that I do not fully blame the drivers for the things that occurred. From what we saw, they were tasked with the impossible feat of trying to be held accountable for wild overpromises. I realized they were just trying to do a job. Let’s go step-by-step: 1. The drivers show up at the origin address in Texas and advise that the amount of furniture designated to go on the truck exceeds the allotted cubic feet. There is no word for this other than humorous because we had been painstakingly detailed with our inventory list and even eliminated several large items (including a large dining table and 8 large dining chairs) since the original quote of $4700 was provided by the sales representative. “I have generously padded the cubic feet, so there is nothing to worry about,” the rep assured me, “If anything, you will get money back in the end.” Fyi, the original estimate was for 604 cf, but the drivers then advised that it was going to be 765 cf. With our backs against the wall, we relented and agreed to proceed with an additional $720. After the truck had been completely loaded, the driver then said the total was even more than 765 cf, but he wasn’t going to charge us for the additional. How kind. 2. Days prior to the pick-up, I had reached out to customer service and indicated that we would be swapping out a push mower with a riding mower. I was assured (in writing) that this would not make any difference in the quote, and this can be worked out with the drivers upon their arrival. Spoiler alert: this absolutely made a difference and was not worked out with the drivers. They said that a riding mower would be considered a “bulk item” and would make a substantial difference in the price. The riding mower sadly did not make the cut. 3. Now we’re on our way. The date is 5/4. The furniture is wrapped up tight (which I will credit the drivers here; they did an excellent job blanket-wrapping the furniture). We’ve got everything loaded on the truck, and we’ve hit the open road. At this point, the only indication of a delivery date we’ve been given was 1 day after the pick-up. This is the date the driver listed on our contract. He let us know it would be later than this... but absolutely no other information than that. Still, we’re feeling optimistic, excited, and ready for what’s next! What idiots we are. 4. Days pass and we are offered no information about the whereabouts nor the estimated delivery of the furniture. I am unable to call to inquire because Jackson’s office is closed on Saturday and Sunday, and the furniture was picked up on a Thursday. Monday rolls around, and I call, I’m told that our furniture is in the “waiting to be loaded” status, as a shuttle picked up the furniture from the origin and it would be transferred to a semi for the long haul. I’m given no indication of how long we will be in the “waiting to be loaded” status, but I’m given a survey to complete regarding the delivery. One of the questions reads, “On delivery, do we have accessibility to a TRACTOR-TRAILER-TRUCK? (54ft truck size)” to this, I answer, “Yes, we have very wide streets in our neighborhood. This should not be an issue.” I received the response, “Thank you very much for giving us all this information, at this moment we will send everything to the company, and by email we will send you the instructions for you to track your shipment.” Nothing further. 5. Weeks pass, after several phone calls to the dispatch line with no new information, finally I receive an email from David C., “We are excited to inform you that your shipment is en route.” Hot damn! I called dispatch again, feeling hopeful. They inform me that they will call the driver for the delivery window and then call me back. (I’ve heard this twice before with no callback, but this time I’m feeling optimistic). THEY CALL BACK! “Between May 18th and May 19th,” they tell me, “the truck will arrive and the driver will call 1-2 days in advance to confirm.” 6. May 18th rolls around… still no call from the driver. I call dispatch again. They advise that now, the truck will not arrive until Monday, May 22nd. I’ll believe it when I see it. 7. May 20th… I receive a hasty call from one of the drivers saying that they will be arriving early on Sunday, May 21st! Only 17 short days from the original pick-up which you might describe as covered-wagon timing! No less, we’re excited by the news. But wait! The fun continues, he explains that we will need to pay an additional $800 for a shuttle fee, as they are not authorized to drive the semi into the state of New York. “But why is that?” I asked, “I completed the survey you all sent and indicat

Misleading

If i was allowed to give zero stars i would have. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY. The gentleman loading were great, but the services are horrible. You don't pick the delivery date, they do and you must comply. All the hidden costs and, after I was asked my 1st available date to deliver, then days went by, several days later after initial requested date, I was called the day before they wanted to deliver it, and told they would charge me another $10,000 (return delivery and fees) to relocate it. They will 100% do you dirty. From no iron delivery dates, to bully tactics. Do not use this company ever POD from here on out

Well Job

I'm very happy with how the entire move went. Two guys came out to help us move a 2 bedroom apartment. The entire move was done in just a couple of hours. We only moved 10 miles away. They worked hard and got things done quick. I would hire them again

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY

I highly recommend never using the gentleman that came to our home. On top of everything else they called me Friday morning saying they were going to be to us around 10-11am, they got there at 11, spent an hour and half walking through the house then setting up a new quote. After receiving the new quote, they asked if we wanted to move forward which we didn’t have a choice. They had stated they did not want to be there. They were called into work and did not want to work. My husband had asked if they could help move his portable toolbox into his 8 x 14 box trailer. The one gentleman stated they are not supposed to do that but if we threw a little extra cash their way they would help us with that. We were quoted for that toolbox, and that was never put on their 26 foot trailer. This whole experience was a nightmare. They left our rental a mess, didn’t take everything they quoted us for, broke a pantry door (which we will have to pay for), didn’t come with tools or equipment to break down our furniture and miss placed, lost or took my husbands tools, had a terrible attitude, complained about not wanting to be there and work. We had to rent a uhaul ($675) + gas to get home, paid an extra night in a hotel room and not to mention the stress and anxiety of trying to get the rest of our items packed while trying to take care of a newborn. I’m guessing we are just gonna have to eat the whole bill and not have any type of reimbursement or compensation. Broken pantry door Some items they were supposed to take. Also, we had a TV box that we kept when we bought our new TV the Styrofoam you see all over the floor was supposed to be put back into the TV box for Support. One of the workers pulled everything out and just threw it all over the floor. I had told them to take all of our exercise equipment. There is a bag of exercise bands underneath this bag is more weights in a crate and two yoga mats along with formats. Here is our pantry of goods that was supposed to be taken. Our sons room that was left a mess along with the belongings and lamp that was supposed to be taken as well. The only thing in this photo that was not supposed to be taken. Was the diaper genie located in the right corner. Hat rack that was supposed to be taken. Kitchen baskets supposed to be taken. Extra storage bin supposed to be taken. They told me they couldn’t take it unless the drawers were emptied so I did that and they still didn’t take it. I was unsure of as far as charges go, I figured there would be an extra charge since I did not add this room when I was originally quoted. Again, I understand the price difference. But when you’re paying for a platinum package, you would expect to have a little bit more courtesy with your items and attitude. I can tell you we will never use this company ever ever ever again. Also, they never labeled any boxes so when they finally showed up 3 weeks later I had no idea what was in each box!!!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

This company was contracted by a sales brokerage to move household items - took almost 2 weeks - boxes were pitted with holes - night stand door was broken - workers were rude at both parts of the journey (loading and unloading) - all spoke in their languages but I unknown to them the F-word is universally spoken - extra fees at every stage of the move - not professional at all.

Excellent job

They helped us keep costs down by offering ideas with respect to number of men needed and us helping out a bit. Their website was helpful for cost saving ideas as well. We greatly appreciated the free storage as we had 2 weeks between selling and buying.
