An Utter Disappointment: Avoid Safe Ship Movers at All Costs

I regret to inform potential customers that my experience with Safe Ship Movers has been nothing short of disastrous, warranting a stern warning to others. Initially, Safe Ship Movers presented themselves as a reliable service, but they utterly failed to deliver on their promises. They outsourced the moving job not once but twice, first to Frontline and then to Barahones, each step further diluting the responsibility and accountability. The mover sent by Barahones was not only disgruntled and irresponsible but also lacked the basic communication skills needed to coordinate such an important job, speaking no English and displaying a complete disregard for my belongings. This led to a catastrophic outcome where over $250,000 worth of my property was either abandoned as trash or lost without a trace. The lack of information and care has left me in a state of distress and uncertainty about the whereabouts of my valuables. The experience was a far cry from the professionalism and organization that Javier from Safe Ship promised when he committed to 'quarterbacking' my move for $2,000. Similarly, Tom's assurances of precision and coordination quickly dissipated into thin air after another $2,000 payment was made, never to be heard from again. As of today, my move is in shambles, with some items lost to the wind in the hands of the third subcontractor, Barahones, and others left in disarray. The experience has been anything but safe or secure, and I am now left with the daunting task of trying to recover half a million dollars' worth of property, prompting me to initiate disputes with JPMorgan Chase in a frantic attempt to mitigate this fiasco. I strongly advise against using Safe Ship Movers. This company is not just a poor service provider; it is a negligent, unprofessional entity that seems to operate with the sole intent of defrauding its customers and causing distress. Please heed my warning: steer clear of Safe Ship Movers.

Do not use

Beware of using SafeShip I selected Safe Ship based on their assurance of delivering my items within four days, coupled with a competitive price compared to other moving companies. When calling to get a quote, I was told everything I wanted to hear! However, during the pickup process, I encountered discrepancies. Despite having fewer boxes than initially estimated, I was informed that I would require more space and was asked to sign blank documents, with the promise that costs would be filled in later. I declined, leading to an "estimated" cost significantly higher than the original quote. Additionally, I was almost charged a 3.5% fee for using Cash App, which was later confirmed to be unauthorized by Safe Ship's customer support. Contrary to the promised four-day delivery, my items were not delivered within this timeframe. I later learned that movers have up to two weeks to complete delivery after the specified date, a detail omitted during the initial quoting process. Despite my persistent inquiries, with customer service promising delivery "tomorrow" for a week, my items arrived a week after the intended delivery date, with a broken desk and a missing part on my vacuum. Furthermore, upon delivery, I was unexpectedly charged an additional $500 for a shuttle service, another fee not disclosed during the quoting process. Customer service explained that such charges are at the "driver's discretion," meaning the driver could impose this fee arbitrarily. After deciding to write a review detailing my moving experience to assist others in similar situations, I received a phone call from the individual responsible for the pick-up process. During this call, he engaged in harassing and disrespectful behavior, questioning my decision to potentially cause him trouble. Additionally, he attempted to justify the 3.5% fee once again. Subsequently, I also received a call from SafeShip, requesting that I remove my review. The accumulation of these undisclosed charges and the need for constant communication with customer service caused significant inconvenience and frustration. Not up front about anything

I scheduled my move and clearly explained everything needed to be picked up. Then when I was called to confirm it all they claimed they didn’t have all those items and tried to charge me $1000 more! I got them down to $400. Then when they picked things up I was charged other fees that were not included ($150 total). And I was assured by both the person who booked my things and the guy that picked it up that a cross country move was no more than 21 days. Then I get a call saying oh no we have up to 30!!! I never would have agreed to a 30 day move. I need my stuff. They also proceeded to do follow up calls with me on EST which was 6am Vegas time. Waking me up way before I normally wake. I still don’t have my things. I’ll be doing a follow up review if they try to charge me extra for anything on arrival. Especially since I already paid for my move in full.

They talk sweet and screw you over later

We were reviewing how many things I had in my storage to move across the country. I told him I couldn't remember how many boxes I had. Asked him how much per box extra if I am off. Said $10 approximately per box. Signed the deal. I was not in the same town as my storage until a day before when we reviewed the actual content and there were 15 more boxes. I was told it's $1500 more. Showed up 6 hours past the time it was supposed to be picked up. These brokers have no accountability of the words that roll out of their mouth. I hope safeship sinks and they fold as a business with no accountability.

All in all. 10/10

Safeship was easy to work with. I was surprised that the carrier they sent was punctual, friendly and professional. Once my stuff was in transit, I called Safeship to get an update and Lesley called me back within the hour. I will absolutely use both safeship and the carrier again. All in all, 10/10

Horrible Company

I've never moved cross country with a moving company before. I found this company with an online search. The salesman seemed so friendly and knowledgeable. I didn't know they were a brokerage company. I ended up having some major issues with the company they brokered out to. When I tried to call my contact, Matthew, the phone extension was disconnected. I used an email that I had to find their website, a virus warning popped up!! This company is super shady!! Steer clear!!!!!

Missing Items & Damage

DO NOT USE! This company contracts out with other companies to avoid any responsibility in the moving process. They claim they are veteran owned and veteran friendly but they do not care anything about that. I am missing a 75" Smart TV and five of my totes are damaged along with the items in them. Do not use this company as they do not care about you, your items, or the hard work put in to earn everything you own. They steal and blame the other companies they contract out to to avoid responsibility. DO NOT USE!

My wife and I have moved 14 times in 12 years - used movers many times... This is by far the worst company that we have ever used. They lie, they up charge on every thing and they damaged our house and our expensive wood bed that I made by hand... Don't believe them, don't use them if you know what is good for you. I've been promised phone calls to remedy the issues and have talked to no less than 7 people... promising the same. They won't help you - they pass you around acting like they care but they don't. DO NOT USE this company... You will be sorry.

A Truck …..

Brokerage companies that bid out moving companies should have better standards! ALL of the expensive wood furniture was damaged in some form. No furniture blankets were used, save for one piece; and the exposed legs were scratched. The company was from Clifton NJ, and they sent a driver/mover to Aiken SC!!! Furniture was moved that needed to remain and furniture that was to be moved remained behind. Now I have to finish. Furniture and items were moved, BUT not by any professional. This is mis-representation; therefore I need all monies returned and all monies for damaged items!
