Beware

BEWARE. YOU WILL BE ABUSED, AND THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY. I was straight with them from the start about how I wanted as near to an actual pricing as possible in the beginning because I was unemployed. I documented everything I was moving by taking pictures, videos, and other media of my place. I even instructed them to exaggerate my pricing so that I wouldn't be caught off guard. When the movers arrived, they began measuring everything and informed me that they had miscalculated the size of all of the furniture, resulting in additional fees. It didn't bother me. I chatted with an American United representative about the final price with the precise furniture measurements, and we came to an agreement. THEN the movers informed me that they had overestimated some of the items and that I owed an additional $500 after they had almost finished loading the truck. If I didn't pay, they threatened to unload the truck with the products that cost that much. I was utterly exploited since they knew I was at their mercy because I was relocating and they had already loaded the truck. They claimed the difference was due to a "glitch" in their system and refused to pay the amount. 1) They should have spotted the error while reading me the revised quotation, or they should have paid the fees when they recognized they misquoted. They didn't do either of these. Overall, I ended up paying $1000 MORE than the first quote we agreed on. These folks are thieves who will steal your money and take advantage of you in whatever way they can. I'm going to report them to the Better Business Bureau because they need to be held accountable for their actions.

Apartment Relocation

I used them to go about my apartment complex. It's not difficult. They dropped our grand piano, causing thousands of dollars in damage, and then covered it up. They refused to pay and shut off communication after promising to fix the matter. We were obliged to sue them. Furniture may be moved by any firm. The mover's worth is determined by how they react when anything goes wrong. Customer service is abysmal, and management is dishonest. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM.

A horse-drawn cart would have been speedier from door to door.

The delivery date is anticipated to the local warehouse. There were no appointments available for A MONTH to actually deliver to my door. Despite having a "guaranteed" delivery date to the warehouse, home delivery cannot be scheduled until it arrives at the warehouse. I called their customer support a number of times, most of which were unsuccessful. On these calls, I was hung up on, lied to (they stated they would write a note in my file; future representatives could not find any such note), and laughed at for my pains. American United Van Lines charged me $75 for elevator use but did not charge me until the end of the fiscal year. It's past my deadline for receiving reimbursement for leaving my work. Look for someone else to relocate with.

Stay away from them

I was duped. They didn't bother informing me that the container had been severely damaged during shipment. I didn't find out until I had it delivered that it had gone into storage. The contents were a tangle (my hypothesis is that the rig toppled or the container was dropped by the storage crane), and many items were damaged or destroyed. The cage doors were severely misaligned and would not budge, so the delivery driver had to wrench them open.

Criminal business

You should select another company. I'm embarrassed to admit that I fell for this con. I'll simply bullet point this to make sure you grasp the message. The vehicle was not completely loaded by Bad Packers. The promised lock did not arrive, therefore I had to use a personal lock, which took around 20 minutes to install on the pod. Delivered the incorrect pod, leaving ours in our home state (if you put chainsaws and chainsaw oil (DHL) in your pod along with your furniture and TV, it traveled to Monterey California, and I noted that your tools were spread over the truck floor). We misplaced our Pod and had no idea where it was for two weeks until discovering it in Michigan. -Knocked the lock off our Pod, took all of our belongings, and loaded them onto a smaller vehicle without our consent. (This also demonstrates the stupidity of the prior movers.) Many products were broken or missing components when they arrived. Everything was unclean and smelled bad. Charged me an additional 120$ for delivery despite breaching our agreement in every manner conceivable. This is what motivated me to pursue legal action against this firm and ensure that no one else has to deal with them. There is no one to hold accountable, and no one at this firm will accept responsibility; it is a fraud, and you would be better off burning your belongings in your front yard than paying for relocation with American United Van Lines. I would have if I had realized what I was getting myself into.

Worst moving company

In America, I've been a customer for the past 50 years. I have never encountered a corporation that lacks any type of control or communication from top to bottom as badly as this one. Make a good decision for yourself. Never do business with these people. American United Van Lines and packrat are completely inept and give no customer service. They can't tell if they're delivering an empty pod or picking up a full one, it's that terrible. I could go on, but our experience with them and their delays has been inexcusable. This firm should be avoided. Their North Carolina contact center is actually full of folks who don't know what day of the week it is. That's how horrible it is. If the stars above permitted it, I would give them a bad review. Best wishes!

BEAWARE !

If you want your belongings to arrive securely, their packaging staff is unrivaled. However, when all of the bids for our relocation from California to Texas came in around $25,000, American united's pricing was just $14,000. I said, "I'll take it." That gives me a total of 11k issues covered. Just be aware that they pull a bait-and-switch on you, since they had methods of pushing their fee up to over $20,000 when all was said and done, not to mention thousands in gratuities, which I was glad to pay. The final conclusion is that we received all of our items delivered ultimately and in one piece, so despite their purposeful deception, I still saved roughly 20%.

Terrible experience

You should not do business with them. They made my relocation exceedingly difficult. They repeatedly messed up my delivery date, lied to me about paying movers to unload my pod at the warehouse, and then forced me to get a UHaul and unload and relocate it myself, trash, grime, and rodents contaminated the contents of my pod. This is in addition to all of the problems I experienced with them in the beginning with destination and pod drop off.

Without stars

I'm not even sure whether this is a legitimate business. They delivered our pod late, which was an oversight that we had to bring to their attention. I shouldn't have to explain why this is a problem, but the main issue was that our movers were no longer accessible because the pod would not arrive on the scheduled date. Our pod has arrived in the new city. It took them two weeks to get back to us and set up a drop-off date. DURING THAT TIME, THEY CHARGED US FOR TAKING SO LONG. I REPEATED, THEY CHARGED US A STORAGE FEE BECAUSE IT TOOK THEM MORE THAN TWO WEEKS TO SCHEDULE THE Service.

perhaps the worst experience I've ever had!

I'd leave no stars if I could. Don't give them your money! This firm is awful. It is apathetic, disrespectful, and unprofessional. I've never experienced such bad service. We moved across the nation and paid for expedited shipping to arrive on our move-in date. It was assured that it would be delivered by the time we moved in. No pod arrives on move-in day. Call to find out where it is; no one knows, and they have no idea when it will be delivered. If you see this review, please take your business elsewhere. Nothing is worse than having all of your stuff lost in transportation with no idea when or if they will be delivered as promised. And then you have to deal with nasty, incompetent customer support personnel while you're simply trying to find your items. Oh, and they overcharged me, and I still don't have my belongings! Worst business ever! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO BE SCREWED OVER!
