Avoid them

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY AT ALL. Our possessions would be delivered in 7-10 days, or 6-8 business days, as American United Van Lines claimed (and our contract required). We are now on day 18 of being without our goods, with no delivery date in sight. Customer support at American United Van Lines can only inform us that our things have arrived at the destination warehouse and that they are attempting to contact us. They wouldn't allow us to contact the warehouse or even find out where it was. It took many phone calls from both me and my fiance to even get American United Van Lines to pick up the phone and dial the warehouse number. To say we are upset would be an understatement since we are now living and working in an apartment with only a blow-up mattress as furnishings. So, if you value your stuff, stay away from this firm.

Rip off Company.

This has been the worst nightmare anyone could have imagined. I was advised that all of my belongings (from a four-bedroom house) could fit in a single container. I even informed the salesperson that my possessions would fill a 26-foot truck from front to back and from floor to top. When they came, the container was so little that it couldn't hold even half of my items. The container was then so badly damaged that putting anything in it would have been dangerous. It took roughly 20 phone calls and 10 days to finally get through to a management. The manager only provided little more than half of what I had previously repaid. When I sought to talk to someone in the corporation who was higher up to assist me, he stated there was no one higher up. False, there is always someone higher up than a boss. I'd never use them again or recommend them to anybody. It's even worse when the driver says  American United Van Lines is one of the worst container companies he's ever worked with.  American United Van Lines will do everything in its power to take as much of your money as possible. They are a swindle with the worst customer service I have ever seen.

Untruthful, deceptive, and wasteful.

American United Van Lines is dishonest in their business practices; they mislead their clients and charge exorbitant costs. We utilized them to relocate our belongings across state lines, believing that the convenience would be worth the expense. So,American United Van Lines said that they couldn't transport our stuff on a Saturday without charging us an additional $900!! It's beyond me how they can't deliver stuff on a weekend, but I believed my $5300 would cover it. Because we did not pay the charge, they stated that they would not be able to deliver our products until Wednesday, 8 days after we ordered them. So they say we have to pay a $477 storage fee since our 30 days are up by one day because we didn't receive our stuff on Saturday. As others have pointed out, their "customer service" is unhelpful and provides no service. I'm making a complaint with the BBB, and I'm hoping that others will do the same so that they can stop defrauding others! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID USING AMERICAN UNITED VAN LINES.

Never ever again!

So far, it's been a nightmare. My container is three weeks late, and no matter who you contact, you'll get the same canned response: "we don't know when your container will be transported, but you'll receive an email when it does." It's not worth the hassle to save a few dollars. Choose the more costly firms. Before registering with American United Van Lines, I saw some negative reviews and said to myself, "Nah, it won't happen to me." I was sorely mistaken.

Find someone else to relocate with.

The delivery date is anticipated at the local warehouse. There were no appointments available for A MONTH to actually deliver to my door. Despite having a "guaranteed" delivery date to the warehouse, home delivery cannot be scheduled until it arrives at the warehouse. I called their customer support a number of times, most of which were unsuccessful. Among the events that occurred during these calls were the following: I was hung up on, lied to (they stated they'd made a note in my file; subsequent reps couldn't find any such note), and laughed at for my problems. American United Van Lines charged me $75 for elevator use but did not charge me until the end of the fiscal year. It's past my deadline for receiving reimbursement for leaving my work.

My experience

EVER! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! When they were selling me the relocation, they were really friendly. They signed a contract with me, and I gave them a deposit. Then, on the day of the move, they show up and raise the price by $3000!! Then they told me I'd have my furniture in 3-10 days. I haven't heard from them in two weeks. When I contacted them on the tenth day, they couldn't even offer me an estimated delivery date.

Horrible experience and crime

This firm overcharged me on truck square footage. Many of my belongings were missing or damaged when they arrived. I filed a claim ONE YEAR AGO and got nothing! It's as if I haven't heard from anyone! When you can, the automated recorder will continue to repeat the same thing regardless of what you press. They charged me hundreds of dollars and essentially stole and destroyed priceless items.

BEWARE, DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS

After renting a truck, I'm hoping to go to my shell tomorrow and unload it myself. I wouldn't be publishing this review if I thought this was a one-time occurrence, but I read reviews from people all across the country who have had similar situations. I'm adding my voice to the chorus of dissatisfaction. I've waited on line for hours on the phone and days for a call back in order to get my container delivered to my house. Finally, I'm renting a u-haul truck to transport the container. Remember, this is all happening in the midst of a pandemic. Customer service is completely non-existent. They promise to call you back, that they will get a resolution specialist and even a manager to call you, but they never do. The barrier to really contacting someone is enormous. I hope that any of you who have experienced problems with this firm will report them to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Washington State Utilities and Transportation Commission. Because these men have other businesses, they are able to remain anonymous. Be aware that the subcontract is with PackRat, a subsidiary.

If you hire them is gonna be a nigthmare

I wish I had read the reviews before deciding on these. It's been four months since they removed my belongings, and I still don't have them. Furthermore, they charge me for storage every month, despite the fact that the delays are their fault. Simply attempt to reach someone on the phone. I was on hold for 2 hours and 33 minutes on my last call. Don't be deceived by the auto-response that says they'll call you back. They will not. They are holding your belongings hostage, and you will have to pay considerably more than the initial contract price to get them back.
