Terrible company. DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!

This company gave us a quote. Then doubled it on moving day. Held my stuff hostage for an extra $500 on delivery, and broke half of my stuff while delivering it. This is the worst experience I have had with any company in my 41 years of living. This company gave me a quote to move from San Antonio to Los Angeles. They were nice and reasonable sounding when they gave me the quote, but as soon as the contract was signed, it was all about what extra fees they could push on us. When they arrived on moving day, they tried to double the price. They knew I was leaving that night on a flight to LA, and decided to take advantage of me being in a tight spot. When we stated we would get someone else, they said they would keep our $850 deposit if we did not use them that day. We haggled and were able to get the price to only $2,000.00 more than the quote instead of $3,000.00. After 2 weeks of waiting for our stuff in LA, I got a call at 7pm the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving from the truck driver saying that he would deliver the stuff the next day between 12pm and 2pm. I told him it would not be a good time for us because I was working we, planned to travel for the holiday, and they needed to give me more time to give my job notice. He told me it had to be that day and time, and would not give me another option, but stated he just needed someone to let him into the storage unit, and lock it when done, so my 5 month pregnant wife decided to let him in while I worked. When he got to the storage unit, he decided that even though it was wide open and on the ground level, he would need another truck to "shuttle" my stuff into the storage unit. It was another way to simply scam more money out of us. For this it would be another $500. Since this driver was too incompetent of a driver to manage driving through a standard storage unit, we would need to pay $500. We talked with the company about how we already paid way over their original quote, and they did not care. They told me I could either pay the $500, or I could get someone else to move the stuff from the street into the unit. Who has people who can simply drop what they are doing to move stuff for them? I mean really. These were the only options. When I suggested they hold the stuff for a few days for me to get people to move it, they told me it would cost another $650 dollars for them to hold it. All of this happened over 2-3 hours while my 5 month pregnant wife had to sit at the storage unit to work out the issues. Finally, after they had once again screwed me into a corner, we decided to pay the $500. They told me this money was to hire a few extra people for the extra energy moving the stuff into a shuttle and into the unit. When the driver returned with a "shuttle" (AKA a smaller moving truck) He was only one person to move a house worth of items all by himself. There were no extra people, so where did my $500 go? When I finally got to pulling stuff out of the unit a few weeks later, I found all of my boxes labeled "fragile" upside down and in a corner under other boxes. I knew that it was a bad idea to have one person try to do it all by himself. He rushed through the job just to get it done. To no surprise, many of my breakables were broken. Many of these items were souvenirs that are irreplaceable. I will never wish these unprofessional movers on anyone. Please save yourself, and do not use them.

Hard work

Trans Van Lines provided the best customer service I've ever had! I am very pleased with their honesty and hard work. They worked all day and had a positive attitude the entire time they were assisting me. I appreciate this company's efforts to make this move as painless as possible.

Quick and Effective

I had too much to do and wanted assistance packing. They were helpful diligent and when it came to delivery showed up early with no issues. Nothing of mine broke they helped get them inside without scratching the walls. Highly recommended, would use again if I ever move again.

Awesome company

Such a blessing because I was really anxious about this transfer. I'm shocked at the pace at which these guys worked. All was packed well, in and out, and it was over. The website helped me prepare ahead, so I knew what to expect from me. Unpacking was much easier than that. With comparatively little effort, I was in my new house. The movers took a very good direction and were extremely respectful (and strong!). It's highly recommended.

Bad service, up-charged day of move.

I hired Trans Van Lines to transport things from my Miami home to Dallas. I had an estimate for packing and moving on site. Until the things were out of my condo and on the street, the movers doubled the price of the move, saying more packing materials were needed, and space on the truck was needed. My goods arrived in Dallas, not bundled in the packaging material, but wrapped in my clothes and linens. There were several things destroyed. I have been through the lengthy and verbally abusive claims process, just to ensure that they do not fix the defective goods or charges for unused packaging materials. It took them more than a year to respond to complaints filed with the BBB.

WI to UT move

I successfully made the move from MKE to SLC. Trans Van Lines is the company I landed with. They paid $1,400 for me to carry anything I thought was going to be a great deal. They worked on my busy schedule of work and arrived promptly as promised. The best part of the transfer was that I was able to carry my beloved King's large memory foam mattress. The fact that they delivered a king size mattress at this price range was worth $1,4,000, in my opinion. All had arrived successfully and undamaged. I couldn't have asked for more!

Disrespectful company

They smashed our TV, which was in a TV box, because they wrongly laid it down and piled stuff on top of it. What kind of reputable moving business will do that?! They were trying to deny that it was even broken. They even called and said, "Hey, we're going to be there five times this day and never showed up, we call, abrude customer service rep makes an excuse and then tries to keep our things for a cost if we don't wait around for a truck (oh, that's 4 days after 5 no show calls) that's unconstitutional, you can't hold a person's things hostage. Reporting to the federal transport office that investigates fraud as this move accross the state lines.
