Out of state move
Hired at $8,000 to move goods. Pickup was days late and done in a Uhaul. Held items hostage until $13,000 was paid. Move was promised in 10 days, took 4 months. Valuables were gone (furniture, etc). About half of the goods arrived, many in poor shape. I did not enjoy paying $13,000 to have my stuff stolen.
Cross country move
Quote for $8,000. Held goods hostage until we paid $13,000. Then took four months to deliver after quoting ten days. All valuable furniture was gone. Roughly half of the other goods were never delivered. Very stressful start to finish. Would have saved money to take the goods to the dump, with roughly the same results.
Licenses & Certificates:
Companies that transport household goods within California like RoadRunner Moving have to register annually with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The Bureau of Compliance is the responsible regulatory authority that manages intrastate movers. Movers should be registered with the FMCSA to operate interstate.
