Only sent 1 mover
The main issue was that NVL only sent one mover so my husband and son had to help move and we all unwrapped furniture and unpacked valuables. Fortunately the only heavy piece was an armoire that had to go upstairs. Regardless, this move was $5300 (for FL - MD - MA) and we paid for this service that we had to personally do. The local FL movers (Joe Bonnie) were PHENOMENAL if anyone needs an FL mover. As an aside, the mover wasn’t a very good driver and took off some of our cherry tree. I now understand that they don’t have moving employees but rather contract the jobs out and rent trucks.
Good Job
A job offer was made, and the relocation was done in one week. Everything happened in a blink, from the offer to the actual move. They handled everything with professionalism and efficiency. T he driver, was really nice and helpful. Hopefully, my next relocation will be more well-planned. Thank you very much. You made a hard situation easier to deal with.
Horrible
Let's start by saying that this moving company wasn't as good as other people who recommended it to be. In fact, our experience with them started bad when they came to pick up the stuff on the 25th of December 2018 to go to Florida. The guy named Uzi began to say that our furniture was bigger than mentioned, even though Natasha's video inventory was done, and she was marking it to be what it was. Uzi charged us more money for a few pieces of furniture that were correct by description, but he said they were bigger. While evaluating our inventory, Uzi's behavior was rude and acted like he didn't want to be there. Based on conversations with Natahsa, we were given a projection of our stuff arriving sometime in the middle of our last possible delivery date, but after numerous phone calls and talking to Natasha, Kim and other members of their team, they told us they were checking with the dispatch manager and they would call us back but never did.Our stuff arrived three weeks later, after being kept in storage. To make matters worse, we paid extra for the delivery of a small truck, but this was not communicated to the driver who was only delaying the delivery of our goods. Some of our things have been damaged during transit. We paid more than $3000 for what they considered a small job. We didn't receive a stellar service, in fact we would rank them at a 1-star rating on their work, work ethic and customer service. Avoid doing this company.
Damaged my furniture
I have contracted with National Van Lines through its local Houston agent, Jonnie T. Melia. The pick-up went smoothly. But when it came to delivery in Colorado, they sent a very old man to move boxes, furniture, etc. He was totally overwhelmed by the move. Drop my wooden buffet on the ground outside of my house-not once, but twice. Don't unpack anything as promised. It's total disaster. When I got in touch with them, they said that any help was 85 miles away. Of course, I had to pay in advance. Nice. Nice. They give me a partial refund-but they hardly compensate my wife for doing half the unloading on her own. Lots of excuses. I'm really sorry in more ways than one.
Everything gone great
Michael Hartung was our representative to plan the move, and he was a great communicator, easy to work with, and responsive. When the move started, Brian O'Malley arrived in Boston on time and was extremely professional and well prepared. His team did a FANTASTIC job, and we were so grateful and impressed. Brian delivered our items to our new home in New Jersey, and again-timely and competent. The whole company did a great job starting to finish. They were aware of the current pandemic and took care of our belongings. 10 out of 10 would be used again and highly recommended.
My last move
The driver of NVL, Damon Clark, and his grandson, Sebastian, moved us from Austin to a town near Santa Fe, NM. He was reliable, punctual, trustworthy, enjoyable to work with, loaded and unloaded exactly as we requested, including the rental of a shuttle truck for the delivery location of the ice steep, 1-lane dirt road with a tight hairpin bend and narrow gated access. Not a single piece of damage so far, even though we packed ourselves. Awesome work, Damon & Sebastian, and happy holidays!!
Easily coordinated
Aaron Bacon was great at planning to move my mom's household goods across the country. I've been worried about the pick-up since I've been living 2,000 miles away, but Aaron made me feel confident that her goods would be picked up on time and without incident. Our mover, Jose, was very professional and flexible at the end of delivery, arrived a day earlier than expected, and handled two delivery locations seamlessly. A worry-free, trouble-free experience in general!
