Bad communication and rude behavior
Movers arrived on schedule, looked around, and then concluded they couldn't perform the work since the vehicle was too small and it would take longer than expected. They changed the pricing from what was contracted and told me it would require two trucks, each costing $1,000.00. I was upset and hurt because I knew I couldn't pay that price. I had given the corporate representative a phone update on the number of stuff and bedrooms. She increased the time from 4 to 6 hours to accommodate the change in bedrooms, but this information was not given to the personnel who arrived to perform the relocation.

Better than expected
Five guys, two trucks, one day in a state move. Guys were quick and hard-working. Price wasn't cheap, but it was competitive. We checked with 5 different companies, but Jake's price included all the requirements that we were looking to get for the price. It was worth it. They've finished ahead of schedule. It wasn't an easy move, but they were careful, and it was all done without any disasters. Highly recommended. Talk to Tracy, she's going to work it all out for you. Very responsive to the company.

Unhappy
Can´t recommend it! After about an hour on the phone and even giving room/house pictures to the estimator, I can only assume that they intentionally underbid the move to get my business and then charged me a lot more (in my case double) on the day. They require cash or bank check on the day of service, but because they were totally wrong in their estimate, we didn't have the cash, so they also charged us a 5 percent service charge to pay by credit card. Interesting, as far as unpacking is concerned, we dismissed the guys earlier saying that we would do most of the unpacking ourselves, but there was no savings or discount, as now it was a flat fee, not an hourly one for unpacking, just a packing end. So many items were broken in the move, but the worse was that their packers thought it was okay to stack artworks/pictures in one box without anything in between-no protection as the backs of the frames were sitting on the fronts of other pieces causing damage. When I brought this to the attention of the management,They were disrespectful, and they were all too happy to inform me that their liability was limited to $50, and I was supposed to get extra insurance (read their fine print). They have no incentive to use more and proper packaging materials since that reduces their profits and since they do not have to worry about a lot of responsibility. I'm very unhappy about that.

Move
Jakes Moving & Storage was a great company to work with. John, the Managing Director, answered all my questions before my elderly mother moved. The crew was on time and took extra care to wrap their furniture. They were flexible, considering that the larger elevator was out of order, but they still worked quickly and efficiently. They were friendly and respectful, and they made my mom feel at ease. I called four moving companies to get an estimate, and Jakes was the only company to get my call back on the same day. I believe they gave the move a fair price. I would highly recommend that you use Jakes for your next move!
Fast and great service
They came in and packed it all up really fast! They've been so nice and effective. The only thing I didn't like was when they came to the new house, they unpacked so fast that they didn't get everything we wanted, and one thing wasn't unpacked. Speed is great, but sometimes you need to slow down a bit to be fully efficient. I'm using it again!

Friendly and efficient company
I've relocated a couple of times in the last couple of years. Jakes Moving was the best company I've ever used. They've been prepared for my big item. Other companies have quoted more to move my big item than Jakes has charged for the whole move. The estimate was correct, so there were no surprises at the end. The crew was working hard and efficiently. The time wasn't over. They were very professional, careful and friendly too.
