BEWARE AND STAY AWAY, THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!

I was recently duped by Jacob and Sons. If you value your belongings, your time, and your faith in the goodness of others, please use another moving company based on my experience. Employees at Jacob and Sons have no ethical boundaries, and I am sure they will be exposed soon. Jacob and Sons confirmed the existence of a Jacob and Sons branch and a safe/gated warehouse in New Jersey, where they told me that my things would be placed in a secure wooden crate in their facility, isolated and secured from any other person's items until I was ready to travel to my final destination this Spring. Jacob and Sons have stated unequivocally that they do not use third-party companies to conduct their company. All of these factors were essential to me when selecting a moving business. On moving day, an annoying man named Saul arrived at my apartment with my Jacob and Sons inventory list and requested an extra $1,000. I called, texted, and emailed Jacob and Sons as soon as this happened, but received no answer. I refused to pay the extra money, but Saul agreed to transfer my belongings regardless. Throughout the move, he treated my things like garbage and broke many of them. When I requested that my belongings be handled with greater care, Saul swore at me and threatened to "dump my belongings on the side of the road and cancel the transfer entirely." I called Jacob and Sons several more times, but received no response. Following the traumatic moving experience, Saul handed me documents on the letterhead of “Moving Express and Storage, Inc.” After being questioned about the letterhead, Saul said that he was employed by Jacob and Sons. I called Jacob and Sons again, but received no response. I had contracted with Jacob and Sons, NOT Moving Express and Storage, Inc. I later googled “Moving Express and Storage, Inc,” and after reading the feedback at the link below, I had another traumatic experience. movers/moving-express-and-storage-1232 https://www.mymovingreviews.com/movers/moving-express-and-storage-1232 There have been allegations of fraud, robbery, bribery, and extortion against Moving Express and Storage. Jacob and Sons lied to me, misled me, and duped me. I called Marty, the Jacob & Sons representative I'd been working with, the next day, and there was still no response. Marty hasn't answered a single phone call, text message, or email in over two weeks. I was able to reach Connie from Jacob & Sons Customer Service after hundreds of unanswered calls. Connie indicated that she was unaware of Moving Express and Storage. Connie then told me that because I signed the papers from Moving Express & Storage on moving day, I was no longer under contract with Jacob and Sons, totally deceiving me. Connie said that she had no idea where my things were, but that she would "check into it." I had no idea where my things were for the next few days. After a few days, Jacob and Sons admitted that my things were in the warehouse of Moving Express and Storage in New Jersey. Jacob and Sons lied about getting a facility in New Jersey, and I needed my belongings right away. I rode to New Jersey to retrieve my belongings. Moving Express & Storage's warehouse was FILTHY and would almost certainly fail any kind of quality control inspection. I have things that have gone missing or have been robbed. My sofa had water damage; my dresser, bedframe, cabinet, heirloom dresser, and bench were broken; and there were holes in boxes (photos attached). I am still unable to ascertain the magnitude of all destruction because I have not yet opened all of the boxes retrieved from the warehouse. Jacob & Sons is the mastermind behind the whole scheme. Jacob and Sons cheated and failed to meet one of our agreements. Not only is Jacob and Sons refusing to take blame for what happened, but they are also refusing to repay the deposit I am owed. My calls have been ignored after I returned my things, and my emails are now being ignored as well. Victims of Jacob and Sons: Please report them to the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau as soon as possible. I worked in news for many years and still keep in touch with former colleagues at national news organizations that specialize in stories like this. We have a legal argument as well as a moral duty to expose this heinous "business."With all going on in the world, this should be the last thing on anyone's mind. This was a truly painful experience that I hope no one else has to go through.

What a nightmare!! Terrible company...

We are heartbroken! First, Marty W, our estimator, assured me that our move would be at or near 1200CF. I was hesitant to hire them, but he put my mind at ease by saying, "I will be around to discuss any issues, and on the day of the move, you can call me if there are any problems." The estimate was based on him and his partner, Josh L, making my wife and I walk around the entire building, counting every box, bin, and piece of furniture...we added about 12 more boxes and a few small things (NO FURNITURE) to the quote, and it came back at 1300CF. Not an issue... The movers arrived...they loaded the truck and it came to 2200 CF...they were 900 CF off! The loading team also told us, "These sales managers do this all the time—they send small numbers to get the sale and afterwards the customer is left with a much higher cost when we get here to load the truck." We noted his remarks on the "revised estimate" that they pressured us to sign or we would get our goods in Utah when the truck arrived. This is organized crime conduct. I called Marty W and Josh L over 25 times without getting a response or a return phone call. None!!!!! Several emails, too—NOTHING! My wife and I felt totally cheated over and abandoned. Connie, the escalation woman, finally calls me. She essentially tells us that we're unlucky and that the estimators are often wrong. She gives a $400 credit on the additional $4200+ we had to pay at delivery. I was angry, so they offered me another $350...then they force me to sign a notarized document claiming that the case is closed, or the movers will not deliver our belongings. This is intolerable... Can you imagine being almost twice as wrong as you thought you were???? We are not experienced movers; Jacobs & Sons are supposed to be. This is a complete con to extort more money from consumers at their most vulnerable. NEXT, all of the Delicate boxes were labeled with giant RED caution stickers in at least three prominent locations. When the truck arrived, I photographed the devastation. BROKEN! Numerous boxes were stacked on top of the fragile boxes, as though they didn't care how they were packed at all. Completely unprofessional and irresponsible. DO NOT HIRE JACOBS & SONS to transfer you across the street, let alone from Florida to Utah, is my advice. Absolute nightmare, complete bait and switch. I'd give it a negative star rating if I could. NOT AGAIN!!! You destroyed our family's relocation to Utah. (The only good aspect of the whole transfer was the truck packing crew. They put in a lot of effort and acted professionally.)

Very disappointed

The initial estimate was 350 cubic feet at $3,200. When the movers arrived, the bill soared to over $6,000, despite the fact that they claimed we had more than 1200 cubic feet. It appeared to be very deceptive. I wouldn't recommend Jacob and Sons Moving and Storage to anyone!!
