This relocation was a disaster. My belongings felt like they were being kept prisoner. I was not informed that once my goods were loaded, they would be transported back to California and stored until they had a full truck heading my way. In addition, the cost ended up being twice what was estimated. Items were missing at the time of delivery. On my relocation, I even had someone else's belongings emptied, which I had the drivers reload into the truck.

Companies that transport household goods within California like Inter Van Lines have to register annually with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The Bureau of Compliance is the responsible regulatory authority that manages intrastate movers. Movers should be registered with the FMCSA to operate interstate.
