Allied was a bad decision from beginning to end. Items were broken and missing, and there was no insurance to cover the goods (partly my fault for not researching the area to secure more than their basic $.60 per pound coverage). If I were to relocate again, I would hire a team to pack and load a rental truck and contracting a driver with the cargo door locked. Never again would I put my belief in a false brand name.
Standard Move
Nothing incredibly special but did get the job done. I've had the misfortune of relocating 14 times so far in my life and I've seen the best of times and the worst. This company deserves 4 stars because they are good and just that. Customer service could be more responsive but the service was solid. Great movers. Thanks for a proper relocation.
This company should not be used.
After arranging my relocation, I was given a three-day timeframe for when the movers would arrive and told that I would be contacted when the movers were one hour away. After waiting until 4 p.m. on the final day (also our final day in Seattle before flying to Vermont), I was anxious, and when I contacted them, I was simply told that the route had been canceled and that they would have to reschedule. I was able to extend my lease and persuade a friend to let the movers in when they were meant to arrive one week later after a lot of legwork. I specified dates because my friend works long days most of the time and it would have to be on one of his days off. We hurried once more late at night to find someone available to pick up the keys from our friend and then go to the apartment early the next day. After one extra week and several hundred dollars, our goods are finally in route, albeit I have yet to get them. All attempts to obtain an E.T.A. for delivery have resulted in arrogant remarks and disrespect. Perhaps the worst customer service experience of my life, which added to the stress of the move. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY TYPE OF MOVE.
from St. Cloud to Saint Paul
In every aspect, it's awful.
From top to bottom, this is a terrible company. We were charged $4000 to relocate from Minnesota to New Jersey. They told us our belongings will arrive in NYC in 10 business days. It hadn't even left Minnesota by the ninth day. However, they refused to let me talk with a manager because it was still within their stipulated time range. Allied Van Lines apparently has particle accelerators! Needless to say, my possessions didn't arrive in New Jersey for another 6 days, giving them a total of 18 calendar days in possession of my belongings. Throughout this ordeal, I had been attempting to contact their customer service manager. The manager is a difficult man to reach. I made the grave error of missing his initial call and phoning him back minutes later, only to be told that I had now fallen to the bottom of his call list and would have to wait 48 hours for another call. He eventually phoned three days later. And, during that delightful conversation, he lied and told me that he had attempted to contact me many times, therefore the whole thing was essentially my fault for not answering. And, during that delightful conversation, he lied and told me that he had attempted to contact me many times, therefore the whole thing was essentially my fault for not answering. He also said that his company had done well because my items were "just three business days late in arriving at the warehouse." Meanwhile, I still haven't received my package, and we're on day 19, and it won't arrive for another two days. Allied Van Lines should never, ever, ever be used.

Horrible, destructive, and misleading!!
I engaged Allied Van Lines to transport me from my Florida condo to a storage facility in North Carolina until my new house was completed. I called them and detailed every major piece and box I wanted to be transported, they gave me a quote, and I hired them for the task. They arrived at my house on the day of the move and priced me about $2,000 MORE than their original estimate!! Nothing had changed in terms of the number of stuff I was transporting! They knew they had me cornered since I had to leave that day. I observed and photographed all of the damage as they carried it into my storage unit and brought it to the manager's notice, but I was only paid for a small portion of it. After I moved into my new house, I realized that several of my packed belongings were broken...despite being wrapped in newspapers, bubble wrap, and towels! Evidence that they were highly destructive and rude with the boxes! The management refused to reimburse me for any further harm! I would have been better off selling everything and starting over because I am now out $4,000+ from the relocation and have nothing but broken furniture in my new house! DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE!! They will cause you a lot of trouble and cost you a lot of money. ANYONE else out there HAS to be better, since I can't imagine it becoming much worse than my experience!!
Does not satisfy expectations
Under no circumstances should Allied Van Lines be used (also operates under the name Pack Rat). We ordered a Pod a month ahead of time. We were notified on the day the pod was supposed to be delivered that it couldn't be done since they didn't have any pods available. We were advised that the earliest POSSIBLE delivery date was the day it was to be picked up and we were to relocate. Who manages a business like this when they can't even keep track of their inventory against customer requirements? This is a terrible business practice. RECOMMENDATION: DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Disappointed
After charging us DOUBLE the anticipated costs, being more delayed than indicated on delivery time, and then having a hidden extra at the end to have a tiny truck loaded with our items since our apartment complex is unable to load an 18 wheeler, our bill increased from $2500 to $5500. We phoned numerous times and were never returned; they were nasty and insulting to us, and they lied about pick-up dates. Essentially, they scooped up our belongings and sent them to a warehouse, where they sat for three weeks. My family (husband and 4-month-old twins) were staying on an air mattress in an empty apartment, which was a nightmare. Allied Van Lines is not a company I would suggest.
Nightmare
I don't even know where to begin to describe how terrible, criminal, disrespectful, and unprofessional this firm is. They give you a quote, make your deposit, and then treble the quote when they arrive. They did not steal our automobile, as previously discussed. They picked up our belongings on August 15th, and we still haven't received them as of September. No one has called me back, and there have been no updates. inclusion of this firm on their website is irresponsible. If you are having trouble with this company, here are all of the phone numbers I need to call. Don't expect someone to respond or return your call, but they are there.
Do not book w them
Deceptive, impolite, and spiteful. These folks pay individuals to post positive evaluations. Allied Van Lines AT YOUR OWN RISK. They are a scumbag gang of liars and thieves. Allied Van Lines conducts deceptive business practices, in addition to having several reports on the department of transportation's website for portraying itself as a real carrier when it is, in fact, a subcontractor. After assuring me that my deposit was refundable up to 72 hours before my relocation (WHICH I ESPECIALLY ASKED FOR), they are now holding my deposit hostage, stressing the small print after the fact that the deposit is not refundable. Furthermore, its drivers have been criticized for the use of restricted substances as well as a lack of preparation.

Relocation from storage
I've used this company twice and I can't say I have any complaints. However, the people who moved my belongings from storage were the best and were so polite and careful with my belongings! They were both at the sites I was told about before at the time I was told.
